TERMS OF COMPETITION

ENTRY WINDOW

Entries open on April 20, 2026 at 8:00 pm 
Entries close on May 28, 2026 at 11:59 pm

ACCEPTANCE PROCESS
All players will be put on the pending list. Exempt players will be accepted into the field. After entries close, remaining spots will be filled based on Carolinas Junior Rankings as of May Rankings.

ENTRY FEES
Championship Entry Fee: $195.00 per player

ELIGIBILITY
Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday as of the date of the final round of the championship, who has not started college, is a legal resident of South Carolina, is a member or their parent is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA handicap index® at a CGA member club.  Entries are subject to rejection at any time, including during the event, by the CGA or the host club.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct as defined in the CGA Code of Conduct Policy for current or future championships. All players must conform to the “USGA Rules of Amateur Status” as specified in “The Rules of Golf”. For complete residency and eligibility requirements, refer to the CGA Tournament Manual.

REGISTRATION

All players must register online at www.carolinasgolf.org. Mail-in applications are no longer accepted for this event. Fax, mail, e-mail, telephone, incomplete, illegible, or entries received before the opening date and after the closing date, are not accepted.  The CGA is not responsible for errors or delays by any internet service provider. Entries are only accepted between the open and close dates as stated above. Confirmation of acceptance is sent to players when their status is determined.  Status may be checked at www.carolinasgolf.org.  The appropriate entry fee must be paid by each player at time of registration. Players who "Did Not Show" (DNS) or "No Card" (NC) are suspended from next year’s championship.

LATE REGISTRATION
After the close of entries, a player may contact the CGA at tournaments@carolinasgolf.org or contact the official in charge to request a late entry. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the CGA and only if a spot is available in the field.  Accepted late entries will be charged a $30 late fee in addition to the entry fee of the tournament. The late fee is non-refundable, regardless of participation in the tournament.

REFUND POLICY 

Entry fee refund policy schedule:

  • Open Date to THREE Days Prior to Championship or Qualifying Date: Full refund minus $30.00 administrative fee regardless of reason if entry accepted into championship or sectional qualifier.
  • Withdrawals submitted less than three days before the Championship or Qualifying Date: No refund for any reason.
  • No-Shows: No refund for any reason.

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION, CADDIES, & SPECTATORS

Transportation: Players must walk at all times. Unless approved by the Committee

Caddies: Caddies are NOT allowed.

Spectators: Spectators are welcome at CGA championships. Spectator cart availability and cost is at the host clubs’ discretion. If allowed, spectator carts must remain on the cart path and out of the way of play.

RULES
USGA Rules of Golf govern play.  Questions will be decided by the on-site Rules Committee whose decision will be final. Notice to Players and local rules are posted at host club and distributed at the starting tee(s). The CGA reserves the right to alter the conditions or schedules as stated, including alteration of the round(s) at any time during the championship including sectional qualifying. The competition is closed when the championship trophy has been presented. Special requests for starting times or pairings are not granted.

FORMAT
64 players are formed into 16 groups of 4 to begin the championship. Each player plays 3 rounds of match play against players in a group of 4, called Group Play. The winner of each match will receive 1 point. Ties matches after 18 holes results in each player receiving .5 points. In the event of a tie in the group after three rounds, the tied players will have a sudden death stroke play playoff to see who wins the group.

YARDAGES
Boys’ division will compete at approximately 6,500 yards.

INVITED PLAYERS

Players in the following categories are exempt into the championship

  1. Top 16 from the 2025 CGA SC Junior Boys’ Match Play
  2. Top 15 from the 2025 CGA Creed Junior Boys’ Invitational
  3. Top 5 from the 2025 CGA Jimmy Anderson Junior Boys’ Invitational
  4. Top 10 from the 2025 SCGA Junior Boys’ Championship
  5. Top 10 from 2025 CGA Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship
  6. Top 50 on the Carolinas Junior Boys’ Rankings as of April 20, 2026

Overall results (not age divisions) are used to determine the exemptions from individual tournaments.  Being invited does not guarantee acceptance.  All exempt players must register by the closing date. All players will be put on the pending list. Exempt players will be accepted into the field. After entries close, remaining spots will be filled based on Carolinas Junior Rankings as of May Rankings.

DIVISIONS
All players will compete in one division. There are no age divisions. 

PRIZES
Trophies are awarded to the champion, runner-up, and semifinalists.

VIRGINIAS-CAROLINAS TEAM MATCHES
The overall champion will be invited to represent the CGA in the Virginias-Carolinas Junior Team Matches in Rocky Mount, NC at Benvenue CC on August 7-9, 2026.
