As we return to tournament golf, the CGA has made the decision to take a conservative approach in hopes to fully return to golf in later months.  We have made the difficult decision to cancel all NC Amateur Qualifiers and only run the NC Amateur Championship during the early stages of this return.

All Qualifiers have bene cancelled.  Qualifiers for the NC Amateur will not be rescheduled.   All players from each qualifying site will be compiled into one list.  From this list, the field for the North Carolina Amateur Championship will be selected by using the following criteria:

1 – Exempt players are accepted into the field at the time of registration.

2 – Players from the qualifying list who played in the 2019 NC Amateur Championship.

3 – Highest ranked players from the qualifying list on the Carolinas Men’s Amateur Rankings as of March 5, 2020.

4 – Highest ranked players from the qualifying list on the NC Junior Boy’s Rankings as of April 1, 2020.

The field will be filled by each criterion before moving to the next criteria.  Example: The NC Amateur field size is 108 golfers. 35 sign up exempt. There are 73 spots remaining.  44 players on the qualifying list played in 2019, those 44 are into the championship. 29 spots remain.  50 players are on the rankings that are on the exempt list.  We take the top 29 of those ranked players to complete the 108 golfer field.

If you no longer wish to compete in this championship, please withdraw HERE.  Players will be updated of their status following the close of entries.  Entries will close on Sunday, May 10th at 11:59pm.

Further updates will be communicated via email in the coming weeks. These cancelations are specific only to the CGA and TYGA events and have no effect on these host clubs regarding their member or other outside play. Get the most up-to-date information on the CGA’s tournament schedule HERE.

The health and safety of our players, members, employees, volunteers, and community are of utmost importance.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these difficult decisions during this pandemic.
