Double AA Charges to Victory

Alex Andrews took the spoils as the Tuesday Medal season reached it's three quarter point, (9 played, 3 to go) with a superb nett 65 and a 3 shot victory over a pair of Mille(a)rs, Davie and Aaron. Alex's 80 is his best score on record going back to March 2019 and his scoring had been trending in the right direction with his last 3 scores all counting towards handicap, 85, 84 and finally the 80 yesterday, 3 3's in the first 4 holes got Alex off to a flyer and another couple of 3s, (at 11 and 14) on the back 9 helped Alex to a Tuesday Medal victory and an incredible jump from 49th to 2nd on the Nett Order of Merit...I told you this was anybody's and still is, even if you've not yet played a Tuesday Medal you could still have a chance with a couple of good rounds!

Davie Miller took 2nd place courtesy of the BIH over Aaron....always hard to comment on your own performance (honest) but I'd have been disappointed if my gross 29 back 9 wouldn't have managed that. The old Scotty Cameron putter rolled back the years (matching Saturdays championship first round tally of 8 birdies again, including 5 in a row from 11-15, a further birdie at 17 and an up and down at the last for par gave me my first ever sub 30 nine. I was bemoaning on the 9th tee how I just wasn't playing as well this year and the double bogey at nine didn't help my mood any....golf eh?? Not a bad couple of days for the secretary!

Aaron also had a better back 9 than front, coming home in 37, a birdie at 12 the highlight to that awkward back left pin. 3 bogies to finish might have made lunch taste not so good but on the plus side that's Aarons best score for over a year going back to his 78 last July.

Scratch

With a free space on the tee sheet with my long time sparring partner Richie Elrick and Willie Elliott I thought I'd join him and keep an eye on him as I chased him down on the OOM. My 1st 1st place of the season and Richie's 4th means I've managed to pass him and I now become the hunted with him and Callum Macaulay (played 3 won 3 by the way) now the chasing pack.

Nett

Alex Andrews was the big winner on Tuesday and on the OOM front too, moving into 2nd spot. Stuart McIntosh continues to lead the way with a host of people chasing. This is genuinely anyone's to win even with just 3 events to go. A victory for anyone inside the top 20 with another 2 solid finishes could be enough to secrure the title. Equally, anyone further down or who hasn't played who can string together 3 good finishes could also nick this. All to play for, I'd encourage you to get involved in the last 3, whatever your current position and secure a spot at the prizegiving.
