New Member Kevin Claims First Fereneze Honour

Analytics

Equalling last weeks record for participation, 93 players took to the braes today to try and win some glassware and climb the order of merits, more on those later! Every hole on the course today gave up at least one birdie, 3,4, 10 and 15 being the stingiest with only 1 each. The 5th and 9th, maybe with their nice front pins, were the holes gibing up the most birdies, 8 and 6 respectively. The third and 13th the 2 hardest holes on the course, 9 and 16 the 2 easiest. Only 4 players broke par nett, with another 4 on nett level. The course is excellent just now but there's just enough wind around to still make it a good test.

Tuesday Medal

Kevin MacDonald is today's winner and although only recently joining after moving back North from England he's played some competitive golf already, so nice to see one of our new members integrate into the club and then winning a bit of branded Fereneze ware already. Kevin's gross 76 (nett 68) had 5 birdies in it with 7 3s recorded on his card. Mark Turnbull finished on 2 under nett (1 under gross) and like Kevin had 7 3's on his card, 4 3's in a row from 13 gave Mark an excellent back 9 of 33 which was enough to see Jack Docherty off for 2nd place on the better inward half. Jack started like a train, 5 under nett through 5 including a birdie 2 at the 2nd. an 8 at 6 and 3 double bogies on the way home means Jack may be thinking it was a case of what might have been.

Nathan Bain kept up his recent spell of good form with a gross 73 for 1 under nett but still got some sweep money for 3rd in Division 1.

Mark Turnbull had the best scratch score (70) beating Davie Miller by 1 shot, Michael Hart Jnr taking 3rd a shot further back on 72.

Order of Merits

We've reached the halfway stage of the Order of Merit season with this being medal 6 of 12.

The Nett Order of Merit is wide open, there's been no dominant player yet but Stuart McIntosh's 11th place finish today for 270 points takes him back to the top of the standings. Ian Graham drops from 2nd to 1st with Fraser McDowall dropping 2nd to 3rd. Alex Fenton remains 4th with Kevin McDonald bulldozing his way into the top 5 courtesy of his win today. H emoved 123 places from 128th to 5th. That's how wide open this season's nett OOM is looking. A few good performances and particularly a win and you're in the heart of it.

With 3 wins from 3 Richie Elrick continues to lead the way in the scratch event, that's with 2 weeks off too, graduation last week and graduating his tan this week. With the lead he has he's guaranteed to stay there for at least one more week. Captain Tommy Kelly is his nearest challenger 1860 points adrift. Davie Miller playing in his 3rd Tuesday Medal of the season recorded his 3rd 2nd place finish to move into 3rd. Mark Turnbull's win takes him into 4th with Michael Hart Jnr playing in his 4th Tuesday Medal recording his 4th 3rd place finish (I have Michael to thank for that insight following our round this evening on both he and I...(he'll make a fine Match Secretary one day)
