Stuart Storms to Victory: McIntosh Masters the Medal in Mighty Winds
Tuesday Medal
Our 3rd midweek medal of the season and it wasn't one for the feint hearted, fair play to those that braved the windy conditions to post a score and try and win themselves a crested Fereneze glass and a few pounds sweep money.
Fereneze legend Anand Poddar led for a good chunk of the day setting a very tough clubhouse target of nett level par but that was to be surpassed, by just one shot, by Stuart McIntosh. Both players having relatively solid front 9s and then mixed back 9s with more in the way of mistakes and par nett birdies. Stuart composed himself to finish well after dropping 7 shots around Fereneze very own Amen Corner. Pod dropped 6 shots for that stretch so clearly playing tough.
2 players finished on nett 72, old hand Muir McCluskey edging out youngster Kieran Boyd by 1 shot on the back 9 despite Kieran recording an eagle 2 at 16. Muir also recorded a 2, one of only 4 in Division 1, Pod and Bernard Airlie recording the other 2. Christopher Turner was the only player in Division 2 to record a 2 and picks up the princely sum of £16.
Scratch
Fair play to Richie Elrick (no handicap protecting from him, the opposite perhaps after todays score) posting a level par 71 and a second consecutive Tuesday Medal scratch win and full points for the Scratch OOM..more on that shortly. The aforementioned Kieran Boyd was 2nd, pipping Michael Hart Jnr to 2nd spot.
Order of Merits
Scratch
With 2 wins from 2 outings, Richie Elrick doubles his points tally and leads Callum Macaulay by 1820 points. Michael's 3rd place finish moves him up from 7th to 3rd. Clark Hill moves from 6th to 4th.
Nett
It's much tighter at the top in the nett event. Stuart McIntosh jumps from 51st to 1st place overtaking last weeks leader Ian Graham. Anand Poddar, making his first Tuesday Medal appearance of the season after nursing an injury jumps straight to 5th courtesy of his 2nd place finish.

Participation and Analysis
Remarkably despite only 39 players playing today that was still an increase of 9 on the same event in 2024, must be a weather thing early June..well we are officially in the summer.
4 of the 5 easiest holes on the course were on the final stretch of the course, hence the strong finishes from some players, only the 15th was outside that boundary but at the 10th hardest hole on the course that was playing way easier than typically would be the case.
8 holes had zero birdies and the 13th had the fewest pars....4.
Well done to all that took part. You can do it all again net week.
